- What will I learn in a six week course? In a semester class? In a year? In two years?
- Six week courses are geared toward topical learning of the basics and growing from there. They allow you to learn enough to carry on a conversation of small talk and necessities to communicate.
- The semester courses focuses on more grammar and more advanced vocab. For this I follow A Basic Course in American Sign Language by Carol Padden, Terrence J. O’Rourke, and Tom Humphries. By the end of the second semester, you should be able to hold a good conversation, have a basic understanding of a couple aspects of Deaf culture, be familiar with ASL grammar and have a wide range of vocab.
- Do you offer any family or referral discounts?
- Family discount: 10% off for 2 or more in the same family. Ask me how! *Must have coupon code. Not valid with any other offer.
- Referral discount: For each referral, both the referrer and referred can receive 5% off. The referrer can accrue up to 50% off. Ask me how! *Must have coupon code. Only for new students and new classes. Not valid with any other offer.
- Is there a book that I need to purchase?
- For six week classes, I do not follow a book. During the semester courses, I do use A Basic Course in American Sign Language by Carol Padden, Terrence J. O’Rourke, and Tom Humphries. I do not require that my students purchase it; however, I do recommend it as we will use it in class and it makes practicing during the week much easier. Used copies can usually be found pretty cheap and any edition will do.
